Nancy West was a student at the college in 1942 where she took Introductory Weaving with Anni Albers.
Her obituary appeared in the Hartford Courant, December 3, 2015 and gave this summary of her life:
"Nancy graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1940, and attended Green [Black] Mountain College in Asheville, NC. She served in the United States Coast Guard from 1944-46. She lived in New York City for many years, working for the National Audubon Society and Life Magazine. In later years she returned to Hartford, and worked for the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development."
