Donald Grover served four years in the Navy during WWII. Following his discharge from service, he attended Black Mountain College, UNC Chapel Hill and graduate with his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bradley University.

Donald was an art instructor at the University of Wisconsin and "was considered one of the promising young artists of the area." He helped establish the Contemporary Artists Group and Gallery in Peoria, Wisconsin and had works exhibited at the Denver Art Museum, Harvard University, and Brooklyn Museum.
