Beaumont Newhall was an American curator, art historian, writer, photographer. He served as the first curator of the department of photography at the Museum of Modern Art and the second director of the George Eastman Museum. His book The History of Photography remains one of the most significant accounts in the field and has become a classic photographic history textbook.
There are many great resources about Newhall's life online, including a biography written by the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum.
Beaumont was a professor of photography at the college from 1946 to 1947.
