Anne Kurtz taught English at the college from 1938-1944.
Not much is shared about Anne Kurtz, other than the bulletins sharing of her falling ill and leaving the College to go to the hospital.
In a recommendation letter for Kenneth Kurtz, her husband, the writer shares a thought on Mrs. Kurtz; "Mrs. Kurtz is not, I fear, up to her husband. Nor is she, I believe, a total loss. She writes potboilers under her maiden name of Anne Stewart, keeps quite busy that way, is very interested in literature, social problems, psychology, etc., with an occasional divagation into psychic realms. This scared me at first, but it is not so bad as it sounds.
She is, for instance, interested in telepathy, but she is not at all adverse to having it studied in the most rigorously scientific fashion. She is not attractive at first sight, but I believe she would improve on more acquaintance. In the short while we were there, I went from not liking her to liking her pretty well. She is obviously a gamble, but one worth taking I am convinced." (Western Regional Archives, Kenneth Kurtz Faculty Files)
